I am glad to be posting another income report, as it seems to be stabilizing and getting into the positive! Yay!
It’s motivation for me AND you to make this online business thing work. I am so happy to finally be in the black this month. I was so excited that I was even able to give to a local Englewood-based charity, The Chicago Eco House, where my kids have been learning about sustainable living and also volunteering.
It was such an honor and a blessing to be a local donor since I finally had cash to spare.
I’m even more excited to report that my daughter out gave me by a long shot in this effort. She made quite a bit of money in her entertainment work this summer and decided to give $500 to The Chicago Eco House. It’s a long story how this a came about, but it’s pretty interesting if you have time to read it.
This month was exciting because my huge affiliate payment from my BlueHost.com launch came in. I used RoseMarie Groner’s of the BusyBudgeter.com affiliate sale strategy and made $2,500 from an eight day promotion. Needless to say, I was stoked that something actually worked to boost my income. If you are interested in the process I used to “seed” this affiliate launch, check out the guide I used here, Core Affiliate Strategy.
Without further ado, the numbers!
I made a total of $3,033.65 for the month of October and netted $1,042.95.
I did finally turn a profit, so I am hoping that trend will continue upward into 2017.

Elite Blog Academy
Elite Blog Academy was created by mega-blogger, Ruth Soukup. She has built a blogging empire, earning tens of thousands per month from her online presence. She has an amazingly simple, straightforward class for the new blogger called,Elite Blog Academy or EBA for short . I wish I would have taken EBA earlier in my blogging career, but here I am. I’m about 90% done and I can see that it’s done wonders for my income. I highly recommend EBA if you are looking to profit from your blog. It’s pricey, but I’ve more than made back the investment. It only opens once a year in February, so get on the waiting list to be notified when it’s open.
I am still using this Pinterest strategy to get traffic to my site. But the numbers took a dip this month from last (I was at 30,000 unique page views.) I realized that I wasn’t removing underperforming pins from my campaigns as recommended in the Pinterest Strategy Guide I am using to boost my social media traffic. So I’ll try to adjust that and see if it helps for next month.
Now, I’m capturing that traffic with ConvertKit to help grow my blog sales. ConvertKit has been has been great in growing my email list and my income. I have been using that along with the SumoMe Welcome Mat and I’ve nearly tripled my email list in a little over 2 months. If you want more tips on how to grow your email list, check out this eBook I created on strategies and tactics that will help your email list grow: Grow Your Email List, Grow Your Income. You can get it free if your purchase the Core Affiliate Strategy guide that increased my blog income sales almost 400%.
Following the Core Affiliate Strategy helped me make over $2,500 in affiliate sales for August. I am truly amazed at what using this strategy did for me and my income. If you are interested in checking out the affiliate strategy that basically quadrupled my blog income, here is a link to Rosemarie Groner’s Core Affiliate Strategy guide. NOTE: This guide recommends you have an email list of at 1,000 people to do an effective launch. If your list is not that big, no worries, I actually wrote a quick eBook called Grow Your Email List, Grow Your Income on the subject of how to grow an email list. If you buy the Core Affiliate Strategy guide, I’ll give you Grow Your Email List, Grow Your Income for free. Just forward your purchase receipt to email@example.com to get it.
My freelance income is started to pick up. I am expected to bill well over $500-$700 or so this month since I picked up some new clients at the conference I attended last month. Though I’m not looking to trade dollars for hours any more, I do realize that adding some freelance writing to supplement my blog income has been helpful (the income I made for September was billed last month so you don’t see it on this month’s income report.)
If you are interested in learning about how to start your freelance writing career, check out this eCourse by my friend, Holly Johnson who makes over $220,000 per year writing! It’s called Earn More Writing and recently launched. If you think Holly is unique, check out my post about other six-figure freelance writers.
What Didn’t Work
I realized I was paying too much for my cell service and internet. I canceled my service with Ting and am now with MetroPCS. I purchased a new-ish iPhone from Swappa.com and it seems I’m set for a $30/month cellphone bill (that should be reflected in November’s report because I had a two cell phone bills this month with my final one from Ting.) I was paying $90+ per month for internet service. The rate was around $84 and for some weird reason, I kept paying it late, adding more fees. It’s now on auto pay and I called to get a reduction in the bill. Their response? I’ve got a deal for $65/month! I forgot how important it is to stay on top of monthly fees and try to negotiate them down. It makes all the difference.
I am all but done with Udemy. The payout you see above is from two months ago, but the income has been steadily declining. For September, I made $45 from my eCourse sales (payable in November.) It’s true that I haven’t done much promotion on my own, but even with little promotion I made much more in the past. I have moved all my classes to Teacheable but haven’t launched them yet. I’m hoping that my email list will allow me to make decent amount of sales when I launch my Teacheable school for the new year.
My ultimate goal is to consistently make $25,000 income per month and invest about $15,000 per month so we can retire early by 40. In additional to that, I am hoping that by early 2017, my income can carry the household expenses while my husband just banks his check going forward. It’s a BIG goal, but I believe we can do it!
How about you? What are your money goals? Is making additional income in there as well?
